Monday 12/7/09: Daily Grammar Practice(DGP)-wkbk. pg.242- commas with interruptors. Writing: using style, students will(SW) begin rough draft of "dream room". They may choose to use introduction from last Friday's group activity or rewrite their own. Use notes and descriptive sentences to continue their rough draft.
Tuesday 12/8/09: DGP- wkbk. pg. 243. Writing: Use notes and sentences to finish rough draft. Conclusion should have as much strength and style as introduction.
Wednesday 12/9/09: No DGP today. Writing: SW revise and edit rough draft with the "high five" revise & edit activity to improve their writing.
Thursday 12/10/09: DGP-Wkbk. pg. 245(comma review). Writing: Today SW make the actual corrections on their rough draft papers and start the final draft.
Friday 12/11/09: DGP-Wkbk. pg.246(conventional uses of commas). Writing: complete their final drafts. On Monday, they will illustrate their "dream room" final drafts and color them.
Monday 11/30/09: Daily Grammar Practice(DGP): Lang. wkbk.pg.240 part A- commas in a series. Then watch video on dream homes with "dream rooms". Students begin sketching their "dream room". Add and label parts with descriptive phrases.
Tuesday 12/1/09: DGP-wkbk. pg. 240- part B. Finish phrases on sketch. Then use each phrase in a complete sentence( these could be included in a descriptive piece of writing about a "dream room").
Wednesday 12/2/09: DGP-wkbk.pg. 241 part A- commas used in compound sentences.Finish writing descriptive sentences from yesterday's phrases.
Thursday 12/3/09: Movie field trip- A Christmas Carol in a.m. Afternoon activities to be announced.
Friday 12/4/09: DGP-wkbk.pg.241 part B-quiz. Today we begin our rough draft with the introduction. Work on intro. in table groups--each student writes a sentence in a different colored marker(finished intro. is a 4 sentence minimum). Continue working on rough draft using sent. from Tuesday and Wednesday.
