simplifying.  "Find Your Partner" to practice.  Homework is Reteaching WB pg. 4-2.

Tuesday:  12/08/09 - Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.  Students take notes

as teacher models how to find the LCM, then get the equivalent fraction before adding/subtracting

with unlike denominators.  "Concept Sort" for extra practice of the steps involved.  Homework is

Reteaching WB pg. 4-3.

Wednesday:  12/09/09 - Adding mixed numbers with/without renaming.  Teacher models how to add

mixed #'s mentally and how to add mixed #'s with unlike denominators as students take notes in

Thursday:  12/10/09 - Subtracting mixed numbers with/without renaming.  "Partner Talk" to review

notes from yesterday.  Then, teacher models how to subtract mixed #'s mentally and subtract

mixed numbers with unlike denominators as students take notes.  Homework is Reteaching

WB pg. 4-5.

Friday:  12/11/09 - Add/subtract mixed numbers with calculator.  Students will complete a

worksheet to practice using the calculator and all its functions to add/subtract mixed #'s and

Tuesday:  12/1/09 - Students will be assessed over materials in unit over "Number Theory

and Fractions."  Complete unit test during class.  No homework.

Wednesday:  12/2/09 - Find equivalent fractions and compare/order fractions.  Teacher will

model how to solve an open response involving ordering ingredients in a recipe.  Then,
