Monday: 11/09/09 - Find factors of a number and fine prime factorization. Teacher will model finding factors
of a number and check for prime/composite. Students use gridded marker boards to find factors. Then,
students will create factor trees to find prime factorization.
Tuesday: 11/10/09 - More work on finding factors of a number and find prime factorization. After focus
lesson, guided practice and collaboration on Monday, students will work independently to complete
Practice WB pg. 3-2 after they "Partner Talk" to review yesterday's lesson. Homework is to finish
Practice WB pg. 3-2
Wednesday: 11/11/09 - Find the greatest common factor of two or more numbers. Focus lesson
on how to use lists of factors, factor trees, and division ladders to find the greatest common factor.
"Numbered Heads Together" to report out answers to problems done during guided practice.
Homework is Practice WB pg. 3-3.
Thursday: 11/12/09 - Find equivalent fractions and write fractions in simplest form. Students take
notes in math folder during focus lesson as teacher models how to write three equivalent fractions
for various fractions. Practice finding equivalent fractions by multiplying and dividing with a reminder
that finding simplest form is also finding an equivalent fraction. "Interactive Bingo" to practice.
No homework.
Friday: 11/13/09 - Find factors, find prime factorization of a number; and find the greatest common
factor. Students will use "Versa Tiles" math lab to review prime factorization, prime numbers,
composite numbers, and greatest common factor. "Partner Talk" before beginning assignment
to review notes from yesterday. No homework.

Monday: 11/02/09 - Use exponents and simplify expressions with/without exponents using Order of
Operations. Independent practice using the calculator. No homework.
Tuesday: 11/03/09 - Students will review/prepare for test on "Patterns and Variables." Use math folders
and work in teams to prepare for unit test by completing Chapter Review on pgs. 110-111. Homework is
to study for the test.
Wednesday: 11/04/09 - Students will be assessed by completing test over "Patterns and Variables."
No homework.
Thursday: 11/04/09 - Identify numbers divisible by 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 10. Students take notes as teacher
models; then, students will be given a hand-out with the divisibility rules. Complete pg. 121 for guided
practice and "Find Your Partner" activity. No homework.
Friday: 11/05/09 - More work on identifying numbers divisible by 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, and 10. After focus lesson
and guided practice on Thursday, students will work independently and complete Reteaching/Practice WB
pg. 3-1. Homework is to finish any unfinished classwork.
